Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari launched a revolutionary FASTag-based annual pass scheme for private vehicles, set to kick in on August 15. This innovative plan slashes the annual toll cost from a whopping ₹10,000 to just ₹3,000, offering substantial relief to highway users.

Key Highlights

  1. Annual Pass Details: The ₹3,000 FASTag annual pass allows 200 toll plaza crossings on National Highways within a year from activation.
  2. Eligibility: The pass is exclusively for non-commercial private vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans.
  3. Savings: Regular users can pocket up to ₹7,000 annually, with the cost per trip averaging ₹15.
  4. Activation: The annual pass can be activated on existing FASTags, with a dedicated link for activation and renewal soon available on the Rajmarg Yatra App and official websites.

Benefits

  1. Convenience: Eliminates the need to stop at toll plazas, easing traffic flow and reducing travel time.
  2. Cost-Effective: Offers significant savings for frequent highway users.
  3. Optional: Users can choose to opt-in or continue paying tolls as usual with FASTag.

Trip Calculation

  1. Single Toll Crossing: Counts as one trip.
  2. Round Trip: Equals two trips.
  3. Closed Tolling Highways: One entry-exit pair counts as one trip.
  4. Open Toll Roads: Each toll plaza counts as a separate trip.

With over 10.1 crore FASTags issued in India, this new scheme promises to transform the toll payment experience for millions of commuters.
